Frugal Cat was created by Ryan Kephart. He is currently an engineer, and has started several websites along the way. Before that his career ran through finance and energy — industries where reading someone else's statement line by line is just part of the job.
The idea came from trying to answer a plain question about his own accounts: which of these charges keep coming back? Every tool he found wanted a bank login, a monthly subscription of its own, or an account before it would tell him anything. Is it really that hard?
