Secure Payments

Payments are handled by Polar — polar.sh — not by us. When you pay for a scan, the checkout you see belongs to them: your card number is typed into their form, sent to their systems, and processed by the card networks they work with. It never passes through Frugal Cat, so there is nothing here to store and nothing here to steal.

A scan costs $6.75 plus a $1.01 Polar transaction fee and tax. Polar charges every payment a percentage plus a fixed amount, so rather than hide that in the price we show it as its own line. Polar adds sales tax at checkout based on where you live ($0.51 in Texas).

What comes back to this site is a receipt — confirmation that the payment cleared, with an identifier for it. That is enough to open your results and nothing more. We do not see your card number, expiry, or security code at any point, and we could not charge you again if we wanted to: there is no saved card and no subscription, only one payment per scan.
